Teaching and Lesson Ideas
- Give students a graph at the beginning of the topic to measure how Protestant England became under Henry, Edward and Mary, allow them to observe the continual changes in religious policy
- End of topic assessment: write a news article on one of the policies studied (Dissolution of the Monasteries, Kings Book, Iconoclasm, Marian Persecutions) explain the policy, its role within the wider Reformation, its impact on society and how successful it was
- Card sort match Protestant and Catholic ideas and practices to the right religion
- Compare and contrast the actions and successes of different individuals: Thomas Wolsey vs. Thomas Cromwell or Protector Somerset vs. Reginald Pole
- Homework: design a cover for the Kings Book keeping in line with Henrician Policy (Head of the Church, anti-papal etc... ), ensures understanding of Henrician religious policy and how images can be used to spread ideas
- Watch a video with questions to follow and answer, go through as a class and facilitate a discussion eg. on how far society would have been affected by religious policy
- Strengths and Limitations of different sources: film clips, paintings, written sources
- Fact Files of Significant Individuals: their roles within the Reformation, their impact
